Owner habits

Small habits that keep the picture clean

Worth doing

  • Place your antenna near a window facing local broadcast towers.
  • Format USB flash drives to FAT32 before scheduling TV recordings.
  • Rescan for channels occasionally to catch new local digital signals.
  • Use the included HDMI cable for the sharpest 1080P picture quality.

Worth avoiding

  • Do not bundle coaxial antenna cables tightly alongside power extension cords.
  • Do not remove the USB drive while a recording is in progress.
  • Do not place the converter box inside fully enclosed, unventilated cabinets.
  • Do not use damaged 3RCA cables that cause video hum or color loss.
Our mission

Reliable hardware for broadcast television

We believe everyone should have dependable access to local broadcast news, weather, and entertainment. We focus on building clear, functional ATSC tuner boxes that work with the televisions people already own, keeping working screens out of landfills while eliminating the need for paid broadcast subscriptions.

Digital TV converter boxes and ATSC tuners

Free over-the-air television provides local news, major network programming, and regional sports in crisp high definition. An ATSC digital TV converter box decodes these broadcast signals for televisions that lack an updated digital tuner. Our boxes receive free digital channels, output video in resolutions up to 1080P, and provide clean picture quality through either HDMI or standard composite connections.

Beyond standard channel reception, our digital converter boxes offer scheduled timer recording directly to connected USB drives, full electronic program guides, closed captions, and media file playback. Whether you want to hook up a vintage tube television or mount a compact box out of sight behind a flat panel screen, our hardware provides dependable connections for everyday home viewing.

  • Outputs broadcast video up to 1080P resolution through HDMI.
  • Includes both HDMI and 3RCA composite cables in the box.
  • Records live and scheduled TV to USB drives formatted in FAT32.
  • Features full electronic program guide and closed caption support.
  • Includes a 2-in-1 learning remote to control box and TV power.

Owners, in their own words

“Took about a minute to scan for channels and I get roughly 100 channels. Picture quality is good. 1080p is more than enough for watching local channels.”
T. Tozawa, hideaway box owner
“It works perfectly right out of the box. Simple, straight forward, and easy to use. The user interface is very simple and clutter-free, so there are no confusing menus.”
Leo Allen, hideaway box owner
“I have over 50 channels and they all come in clearly. I only need it for three local stations, one in particular, but the rest is awesome as well.”

The questions every new owner sends

Do I still need an antenna?

Yes. A converter box tunes the signal, and an antenna catches it. Any basic indoor antenna screws into the ANT IN port; our antenna guide helps you pick one.

Why does the remote come without batteries?

The 2-in-1 learning remote takes two AAA batteries, and they are not in the package. Have a pair ready on day one.

My USB drive will not record. What is wrong?

Nine times out of ten the drive is not formatted to FAT32. Format it once and recording starts working; external drives up to 4TB are supported.

Can I pull the drive right after recording?

Press STOP first and give the box a moment to close the file. Removing the drive mid-recording is the quickest way to lose the show you just saved.

Will a universal remote from the drugstore work?

No. The boxes answer to their own infrared remotes, and the spare we sell is a dedicated one, not universal.
