Built for easy reading

A lot of our boxes end up connected to a first television or an old favorite one, and a lot of our readers prefer things large, clear, and calm. The site is built accordingly.

What that means in practice

• Text and background colors are chosen to meet a 4.5:1 contrast ratio or better, including on the dark bands.
• Every page works with a keyboard alone: a skip link jumps past the menu, and the focused element is always visibly outlined.
• Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative ones are marked so screen readers pass them by.
• Motion is minimal, and when your system asks for reduced motion, the site switches animation off entirely.
• Headings follow a strict outline, so screen reader navigation by heading actually works.

If something is hard to use

Tell us. A page that fights your screen reader or a control too small to hit is a defect to us, same as a dead port would be. The email in the footer reaches the people who can fix it.
